The Hall Recovery Course

Paula Hall & Associates have been providing recovery courses for many years and the Hall Recovery Course is the most widely used treatment programme in the UK. Services are offered from our central office in Leamington Spa, Central London and Sheffield and under license at Oxford and Nottingham Relate. The Hall Recovery Course is also available in Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Dubai. A range of Recovery Workshops are also available including Understanding Partner’s Needs & Rebuilding Trust and Mindfulness for Recovery.

Hall Recovery Course

The Hall Recovery Course is not group therapy where you will be expected to share personal feelings that are uncomfortable for you. It is a pragmatic, down to earth psycho-educational course that has been developed specifically for the treatment of sex addiction and sexually compulsive behaviours. The course is unique in providing practical skills for recovery as well as creating an environment where deeper psychological and emotional needs can begin to be explored. Our groups are strictly limited to a maximum of 8 participants and treatment efficacy is evaluated with recognised outcome measure tools.  The Hall Recovery Course is available in the following formats:

  • 8 Week Online Recovery Course for Porn Addiction (specialist service also available for young adults)
  • 12 Week Recovery Course - (1 evening per week plus one weekend)
  • 6 Day Intensive Recovery Course
  • Aftercare Group

Partner Support

Our support programmes for partners provide the space to understand the overwhelming roller coaster of emotions that are so common when compulsive sexual behaviours are either discovered or disclosed.  Help is provided to develop positive coping strategies to enable partners to take control of their lives again - whatever the future may hold.

Our partner programs are available as:

  • 8 Week Partner Support Group
  • 4 Day Intensive Partner Support Group
  • Aftercare Group

You’ll find more information about our courses and other services, as well as testimonials from those who have previously attended at Or telephone our central office on 01926 339594.

 Hudson Centre

At the Hudson Centre we have been providing support groups for numerous years. All facilitators are qualified therapists with years of experience in this field. Groups are based in our Centre at Oxford Circus. Please see below for an outline of what we offer:

The One Week Men’s Intensive Programme

The successful One Week Men’s Intensive Programmes has been developed specifically for individuals struggling with sexual addiction and sexually compulsive behaviours. It is a viable and practical alternative to residential treatment.

We use psycho-education and group therapy to encourage positive change. An important component of the group process is experiential in nature. The group works together, supports each other and shares their similar issues. Progress is evidenced by increased awareness and the ability to make healthy choices versus being driven by impulses.

The After Care Group

The After Care Group at The Hudson Centre is designed to deepen your recovery experience in a group setting and to provide you with strategies and tools to reinforce the milestones you have reached and completed in previous programmes.

The group emphasises both psycho-education and process that focuses on trauma, shame reduction and grief. The purpose of the group is to support members as they effectively progress from addictive procedures and routines to a healthier intimacy in relationships. Each group member is empowered to effectively manage their recovery with autonomy whilst being supported. The group meets every Tuesday.

The Co-dependency and Love Addiction Group

The Co-dependency and Love Addiction Group is designed to help individuals express and explore the experiences, feelings and decisions that have led to this unhealthy and damaging cycle. The group provides a safe space in which to move towards recognising where your cycle of co–dependency and love addiction stems from and to begin to find ways to develop healthy relationships with yourself and others. Group meets every Monday

Couple’s Intensive

While there is no quick fix for couples struggling with the double barrelled problems of sex addiction and spouse betrayal, this two and a half day intensive workshop, led by Robert Hudson, "jumpstarts" a couples commitment to rebuilding their relationship. The workshop allows couples to explore the cycles of addiction and betrayal and helps them understand the dynamics of their relationship. The workshop runs every 3 months. This workshop will benefit couples who:

  • Are new to recovery

  • Have been in recovery for a while and are ready to move forward on their path of growth and healing

  • Want to develop an even healthier relationship and greater intimacy

Partner’s Group

For the partner of a sex addict, even one who is in recovery for a year or two, the problem can be shame based and isolating. Even long after discovery, sadness and anger can remain. Facilitated group support can offer a safe place for reflection and self-discovery as well as an opportunity to connect with others who have experienced the devastation of discovering the man they believed would never betray them has in fact had a whole other secret life. Please call for more information.

Trauma programme

Led by Trauma Consultant Barbara Pawson, in collaboration with the Hudson Centre’s qualified therapists. The Programme can be individually tailored or as a small group. Both Include:

  • To heal the impact of developmental and attachment trauma

  • Focusing on and exploring the roots of dysfunctional relationship patterns.

  • Incorporating the work of Pia Mellody on Trauma and the Neuro-Affective Relational Approach (NARM)

  • Work to and learn how to manage emotions and behaviours relating to childhood and attachment trauma, that Negatively impact on you and your relationship with others

  • Ability to identify and learn how to manage trauma responses and reactions

We also provide tailored individual and couple intensives. Please call us to book any of the above or if you have any questions on 0207 493 4488 or email us at: You can also visit us at:

Marylebone Centre

The Marylebone Cenre offer a range of support groups:

Men’s Group: Supporting men with sexually compulsive behaviour.  (Groups forming now.)

Group therapy is a powerful, dynamic part of addressing sexual addiction. Our clients report this as being an invaluable component in recovery.  To provide continuing support through your recovery, we offer up to three sequential twelve week sessions. Together, the group learns about the neuroscience and the cycle of addiction. We explore the origins of each individual’s sexual addiction and support each other to make a sex plan to avoid relapse and find a healthier, satisfying sex life.

Women’s Group: Supporting women whose partners have sexually compulsive behaviour.

Participating in a group committed to recovery is an almost essential component for successful recovery. This seems to be as true for partners of sex addicts as for the addict. There are unique experiences and particular problems facing partners of sex addicts. The goals of this twelve-week group are to help women in such relationships explore sex addiction and to focus on one’s own issues and recovery in a safe, supportive environment.

Recovery Group: Supporting men with problematic sexual behaviours.

This group is based on psychodynamic principles, which explore the unconscious reasons for problematic behaviour and seeks to remove blocks to self development.  This group is appropriate for:

  • Men who may have completed treatment programmes or are in self-governing aftercare programmes.
  • Those in need of immediate help who are unable to join in regular treatment
  • Long standing patients in individual treatment

Self Development Group: Support for individuals exploring relationship problems, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression and obsessive compulsive patterns of behaviour.

Working with others, we extend our self-knowledge and improve our capacity to make better life decisions.  In this group, individuals come together and work on issues of their choice.  It is not necessarily about recovery from sexual addiction, although for some it may be.
